Your bookkeeper in Litchfield

Litchfield has been called Naticook and Brenton's Farm, and it got its lasting name in 1749 from the Earl of Lichfield, whose title has no t in the middle. For most of its history it was farmland along the Merrimack River. Today it is a bedroom community with no central village and no large commercial district, only a few small industrial parks, convenience stores and small restaurants. So a Litchfield business is less likely to be a storefront. More often it is a trade, a service or a consultancy run from a house on a residential road. Those are simple businesses to keep books for, as long as someone actually keeps them. I can be that someone.

Route 3A follows the river the length of town under the name Charles Bancroft Highway, and the historical center is on it, with the first church and the old town hall. The present town hall is at Hillcrest Road and Albuquerque Avenue. Hillcrest Road is the way east to Londonderry. Going west is harder: Merrimack is right across the water, but there is no bridge, so the crossing is down between Hudson and Nashua or up between Manchester and Bedford. Parker Park still has an old trolley bridge. Atkinson is about 15 miles east, and I never ask anyone to make that trip.

Where I work

How local and remote work runs

With no bridge to Merrimack and no village center, a lot of errands in Litchfield mean a drive. Bookkeeping can be the exception. You and I meet by phone or video, your bank accounts link up to QuickBooks Online, or feed a Google Sheet built for you, and the work gets done without anyone getting in a car.

Litchfield questions

Bookkeeping questions from Litchfield

Can a Litchfield, NH business work with you?

Yes. I am in Atkinson, over in Rockingham County, and Litchfield is in the area I work with. There is no office for you to find and no appointment to drive to. The books are kept in a Google Sheet or in QuickBooks Online, and the conversations happen by phone or video.

Is there a catch to the free consult?

No catch. I do not charge for a consultation, and you owe nothing afterward. I enjoy talking with people, and a conversation is the simplest way for a Litchfield owner and me to find out whether I suit the business. Hire me or not, you come away knowing in plain terms what your books need.

Will you take on a Litchfield business that is not using QuickBooks Online yet?

No. QuickBooks Online is what most of my monthly bookkeeping runs on, and setting up a new file is work I do often. For a business that is tiny or only just started, the kind often run from a house in Litchfield, a custom Google Sheet may be the better tool. Not being ready for accounting software is perfectly fine.

Is the person keeping my books a CPA?

No, and I want that to be clear from the start. I am a bookkeeper, and my Intuit credential is the Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor one. I keep the books, reconcile the accounts and explain what the reports say. Tax returns and tax advice for your Litchfield business belong to a CPA or tax preparer, and my records make their work easier.
