Bookkeeper in Merrimack, NH
Four villages, the Souhegan River and the Daniel Webster Highway. Bookkeeping for the crews who work them.
Yes. A Merrimack business can hand its books to me, Angel Wallace. Atkinson, New Hampshire is where I keep books, and Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor is the credential I keep them under. The work is online, in QuickBooks or a Google Sheet, and nothing starts until you and I have talked through a free consult.

Your bookkeeper in Merrimack
Merrimack takes its name from the river, and the Pennacook people named that river after the sturgeon. When the town was incorporated it spelled itself Merrymac. The Souhegan River roughly cuts the place in half, and four villages make up the map. The automobile turned a largely farming community into a bedroom community, and where there are houses there are people paid to look after them: landscapers, cleaners, contractors and small crews with one truck and a trailer. Those owners spend the day out on Daniel Webster Highway and the evening wondering where the receipts went. I keep the books for businesses like that, so the paperwork stops riding around on the dashboard.
The four villages are Merrimack Village, once called Souhegan Village, plus Thorntons Ferry, Reeds Ferry and South Merrimack. Thorntons Ferry remembers Matthew Thornton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence who lived here, and the Signer's House is still in town. Baboosic Lake sits in the northwest, Naticook Lake near Thorntons Ferry and Harris Pond in the southeast. Bedford lies to the north, Nashua to the south, Litchfield to the east and Amherst to the west. Atkinson is about 18 miles east of all this, over in Rockingham County, so I am a New Hampshire bookkeeper you reach online, not one you pass on Continental Boulevard.

How local and remote work runs
A crew boss in Reeds Ferry has no spare hour to drive paperwork anywhere, and there is no need to. QuickBooks Online lets an owner invite a bookkeeper in as the accountant user, which is how I reach a Merrimack file from my desk. Questions get settled on a phone or video call, and the smallest outfits can run on a Google Sheet instead.

Merrimack questions
Bookkeeping questions from Merrimack
Is there a bookkeeper who takes on Merrimack, NH businesses?
Yes. I am based in Atkinson and take on Merrimack businesses from any of the four villages. The bookkeeping is done online, so a landscaper in South Merrimack and a cleaner near Baboosic Lake get the same attention, and neither has to drive anywhere to hand over a statement.
I pay a few people on my Merrimack crew by the job. Who gets a 1099?
It depends on how each person on the Merrimack crew is paid. Someone paid as a contractor may be due a 1099, while payroll covers the rest. The federal dollar line for that form changed for 2026, so an old rule of thumb may be wrong. I total what each person earned, and your preparer decides which of them get a form.
What is the right way to log miles on a work truck?
Jot each business trip down the day you drive it, date included, instead of rebuilding a year of Daniel Webster Highway runs from memory. The date is the important part in 2026, since the first half and the second half carry different IRS mileage rates. I can set up a log. Standard rate or actual truck costs is your tax preparer's call.
My Merrimack business is tiny. Is paying a bookkeeper worth it?
Sometimes it is not, and a free consult is where I would tell you. A Merrimack owner with a few regulars and a single bank account can often get by on a custom Google Sheet, which I build to fit and which asks much less of you each week. Once helpers or several payment apps arrive, monthly bookkeeping is the better tool.
