Bookkeeper in Epping, NH

Bookkeeping for the small businesses working around the Route 101 and Route 125 crossroads.

Yes, there is a bookkeeper for an Epping business. My name is Angel Wallace. Business Untangled, in Atkinson, New Hampshire, has a staff of one, and I am it. I am an Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor, the bookkeeping happens online, and the first thing you and I do is a free consult.

Your bookkeeper in Epping

A long-running joke on local bumper stickers calls Epping the center of the universe. Its other nickname is the Home of Three Governors. The town was carved out of Exeter and chartered in 1741, lived on farming and on the clay that fed its brickyards, and then became a railroad junction. The trains are gone and the crossroads moved to the highway: Route 101 meets Route 125 here, and the chain stores followed once Route 101 became an expressway. Big stores bring traffic, and traffic brings work for the small outfits nearby, the landscapers, cleaners and repair trades. A growing customer list means a growing pile of receipts. I keep those books.

The old center is where Main Street meets Route 27, a little west of Route 125, and West Epping lies farther out toward the Raymond line. The Lamprey and Piscassic rivers drain the town, and a canoe race runs down the Lamprey on the last weekend of April. The railroad beds are now the Rockingham Recreational Trail. Plumer Road and Prescott Road are named for two of the three governors, and New England Dragway runs races on weekends. Follow that same Route 125 south and it reaches the towns beside mine. Atkinson itself is about 15 miles south.

Where I work

How local and remote work runs

The Epping crossroads is for customers, not for carrying paperwork to a bookkeeper. With your bank and card accounts linked to QuickBooks Online, I can do the monthly work from Atkinson, and you see the results in your own file. A phone or video call handles whatever is left.

Epping questions

Bookkeeping questions from Epping

Do you handle bookkeeping for businesses in Epping, NH?

Yes. I am based in Atkinson, farther south in Rockingham County, and Epping is inside the area I cover. You would not be driving to an office. The books are kept online, I do the work from my desk, and when something needs discussing, you and I get on a phone or video call.

At what point should a lawn care business give up Excel for QuickBooks?

At the point where double-checking the spreadsheet eats more time than filling it in. For an Epping lawn business the signs are familiar: a growing crew, customers paying several ways, a second bank account, or a lender who wants clean books. I can carry your records over into QuickBooks Online, and nothing in the old file gets left behind.

Will you also do my business tax return?

No. Returns are prepared by a tax preparer or CPA, and I am neither. I am the bookkeeper, which means I keep the records that person works from. I am glad to work alongside whoever prepares your taxes, and reconciled books from me tend to shorten their side of the job for an Epping business.

If I only want reports, do I have to sign up for monthly bookkeeping as well?

Not necessarily. A report is only as good as the reconciled books underneath it. If your Epping business already keeps its books current, I can do the reporting by itself. If they have fallen behind, a cleanup has to come first, because a report built on unreconciled accounts would be telling you something untrue.
