Financial Reporting

Clear, easy-to-understand reports that show how your business is performing.

Reports you can actually read

Financial reporting turns your books into clear, easy-to-understand reports that show how the business is performing.

You know your numbers and can make informed decisions with confidence.

A profit and loss and a balance sheet only help if you know what they are saying. I prepare the reports from reconciled books and explain them in plain words: what came in, what went out, what changed since last month and what it means for the month ahead.

Price: I quote after a free look at your statements.

Want to see where reporting fits in your plan? Pick what feels tangled.

How Financial Reporting runs

  1. Free consult

You tell me about your business, your accounts and what feels tangled. There is no charge and no commitment.

  2. Check the books behind it

Reports are only as good as the books, so I confirm every account is reconciled first.

  3. Prepare the reports

A profit and loss and a balance sheet, plus anything a lender or your plans call for.

  4. Walk through them

I explain each report in plain words, so you leave knowing what the numbers mean.

What you get in a report

  • A profit and loss: what came in, what went out, what was left
  • A balance sheet: what the business owns and owes
  • This month compared with last month
  • A plain-language note on what changed and why
  • Reports a lender or landlord can read

One thing you can do today

Look at your profit and loss for last month and find your three biggest expenses. If any of them surprises you, that is the conversation a good monthly report should start. If you cannot find a profit and loss at all, that is where I would begin.

Financial Reporting: common questions

Which reports will I get?

A profit and loss and a balance sheet every period, explained in plain words, plus anything specific your business needs, such as a report a lender has asked for.

Do I need monthly bookkeeping too?

Reports need reconciled books behind them. If your books are already current, reporting can stand alone. If they are behind, a cleanup comes first so the reports tell the truth.

Can you explain the reports to me?

Yes. Explaining what the numbers mean is the point of the service. One of my clients wrote that I take the time to teach them how to understand their books, with clear, detailed monthly reports.

Can you prepare statements for a loan application?

Yes. Lenders usually want a profit and loss and a balance sheet built from reconciled books. I prepare them and walk you through them so you can answer the lender's questions yourself.
