Bookkeeper in Newton, NH

Bookkeeping for the small, home-run businesses of Newton, kept online from Atkinson.

Yes, a Newton business can have its own bookkeeper without anyone leaving town. My name is Angel Wallace. I run Business Untangled from Atkinson, I hold the Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification, and I keep books online. The first step is a free consult, and all it costs is a conversation.

Newton got its name the simplest way a town can. When the colonial governor Benning Wentworth incorporated it, it went on the record as Newtown, simply because it was a new town, and the state legislature later trimmed that to Newton. Before then the land had been counted as part of Salisbury, then Amesbury, then South Hampton, and residents wanted a church they did not have to travel so far to reach. A town made of crossroads villages tends to be full of one-person businesses run from a kitchen table or a truck. Those are books I enjoy. I sort the transactions, reconcile the accounts and tell you in plain words how the month went.

The villages still answer to their old names: Newton Junction, Rowes Corner, Sargent Corners and Crane Crossing. Water leaves town three ways. The Little River takes the southwestern part, the East Meadow River drains the southern corner, and the Powwow River with its tributary the Back River carries off the rest, all of it inside the Merrimack watershed. Brandy Brow Hill, the high point, stands right on that southern corner, where Newton meets Merrimac, Massachusetts. Atkinson is about six and a half miles west of here in a straight line, so both towns work through the same seasons.

Where I work

How local and remote work runs

Nobody at Newton Junction or Rowes Corner has to drive paperwork anywhere. If you use QuickBooks Online, you add me as your accountant user and I work inside your file. If a Google Sheet suits a smaller business better, I build one for you instead. Questions get settled on a phone call or a video call.

Newton questions

Bookkeeping questions from Newton

Is there a bookkeeper who works with Newton, NH businesses?

Yes. I keep books for small service businesses from my desk in Atkinson, and Newton is a town I list on purpose. The work itself is online, so a business out at Crane Crossing gets exactly the attention any other would. Book a free consult and see whether the fit is right.

Does the first conversation cost a Newton owner anything?

No charge, and no catch. Talking with an owner is honestly a part of this job I enjoy, and it is the quickest way for you and me to tell whether I suit your business. Hire me or not, you leave knowing in plain terms what your Newton books need.

Does my Newton business have to be on QuickBooks Online before I call?

No. Most owners I keep monthly books for do use QuickBooks Online, and I can set it up for you if you want it. A very small or brand-new business may be better served by a custom Google Sheet. Some businesses are simply not ready for accounting software yet, and nothing is wrong with that.

Are you a CPA, or a bookkeeper?

A bookkeeper. I am an Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor holding the level 2 QuickBooks Online certification, and I am not a CPA. My part is keeping the books, reconciling the accounts and explaining the reports. Tax returns and tax advice stay with your CPA or tax preparer, and tidy books make their work lighter.
