Bookkeeper in Newbury, MA
Bookkeeping for small businesses in Old Town, Byfield and out on Plum Island.
Yes, a Newbury business can have a bookkeeper without hunting for one in town. Mine is a one-person shop: Angel Wallace, Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor, working online out of Atkinson, New Hampshire for owners in Old Town, Byfield and on Plum Island. A free consult is the first step.

Your bookkeeper in Newbury
Newbury is really three places. Old Town is the center of a place that English colonists reached by way of the Parker River in 1635. Byfield grew into a mill village around six water-powered mills. Plum Island became a Victorian seaside resort once the railroad arrived. Each village still has its own business center, so a house cleaner in Byfield, a landscaper off Route 1 and a seasonal business out on Plum Island can share a town and have very different years. I keep books for owners like these. I sort each transaction, reconcile the accounts and send a report that shows how the season really went.
Route 1, which people here call the Newburyport Turnpike, runs north to south through the middle of town. Route 1A passes to the east, just inland from the marshes, and Interstate 95 crosses the western side. Much of the land is marsh and protected ground, including the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. The Governor's Academy is in Byfield, and older students go on to Triton Regional High School alongside classmates from Rowley and Salisbury. Newburyport lies to the north and Georgetown to the southwest. Atkinson is about 16 miles west of here, across the state line.

How local and remote work runs
Nobody in Newbury needs to drive the Turnpike with a folder of statements. A Byfield shop on QuickBooks Online lets me into its file; a Plum Island start-up may get a Google Sheet built for it instead. Either way I work from New Hampshire, and whatever needs saying out loud gets said on a video or phone call.

Newbury questions
Bookkeeping questions from Newbury
My business is in Newbury, Massachusetts. Is a New Hampshire bookkeeper a workable choice?
Yes. A Byfield ledger and a New Hampshire ledger are kept by the same steps, sorting, reconciling and reporting, and I do every one of them online from Atkinson. What does change is the tax filing. Filing in Massachusetts is your Massachusetts tax preparer's territory, and tidy records from me are what they start with.
Once my Newbury books are cleaned up, what comes next?
Newbury has three villages, and a finished cleanup has three exits. One: the clean file goes home with you and you run it. Two: you keep running it, with QuickBooks Online support from me while the routine sinks in. Three: monthly bookkeeping, where staying clean becomes my chore instead of yours.
I get a profit and loss but cannot read it. Will you walk me through the numbers?
Yes. Translating the numbers is what my reporting work is for. A report nobody can read does not help a Byfield shop or a Plum Island business decide anything. I go through what each line means in plain words and keep at it until the page makes sense to you.
A Newbury lender has asked me for financial statements. Is that something you prepare?
Yes. Whether the loan is for a truck in Byfield or a storefront off Route 1, the bank tends to ask for the same pair: your profit and loss and your balance sheet, drawn from books that have been reconciled. I build both, then stay on a call with you until you could explain every line to the lender yourself.
